MCRO Notifies Voters Impacted by MVD Data Glitch
Here’s How to Check and Fix Your Registration
The Maricopa County Recorder’s Office (MCRO) has announced that a technical issue with the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) may have incorrectly altered some voters’ party affiliations. If you recently updated your driver’s license or voter registration through the MVD, your political party designation might have been changed or removed without your consent.

A data glitch occurred when voters updated their information through the MVD, causing some party affiliations to be improperly modified. While the issue has been fixed, affected voters must take action to ensure their registration is accurate before upcoming elections.
What Should Voters Do?

- Alternatively, call the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office at (602) 506-1511 for assistance.

- By mail by downloading and submitting a voter registration form

No Data Was Lost or Compromised
The MCRO assures voters that no personal information was exposed or deleted—only party affiliations were affected. The issue has been resolved with the MVD to prevent future errors.
Why This Matters
Your party affiliation determines which primary elections you can vote in. If your registration was changed incorrectly, you may be unable to vote in your preferred party’s primary. You will have 90 days from the time you receive information by mail to respond and update your information. Failure to do so will kick you from the State voter rolls leaving you only at the federal level.
Don’t wait—check your registration today to ensure your vote counts!
